"Staying at Esparon is a wonderful experience. The location of the village is exceptional and makes you feel like staying at the top of the world, contemplating the wilderness from above, enjoying beautiful sunrises and sunsets, watching eagles in the sky. The house itself has very good vibes, with many terraces and great views on the countryside. It is decorated with lots of taste, artistic touches and much charm. The kitchen is large and great if you love cooking, the rooms are comfortable and very quiet, the living area is huge at it is outside and inside. The nature around is delicious, you can swim in fresh rivers or do great walks. I was very happy to have finally discovered the Cevennes, a place that many of my friends rave about. Martine is a great person with a wonderful sense of hospitality, something you can feel in every corner of her amazing house."

"Martine is an amazing host. I have stayed in both of her of listings. Her house in the mountain town of Esparon is one of the most beautiful places I have been to. It is magnificently decorated with objects from around the world, art pieces which range from abstract to picturesque, and is abundant in plants and vines. There are multiple terraces with fireplaces and bbqs, and the rooms are very cozy and charming. The food of the region is exquisite as well. The weather is warm but not humid during the day and the night is fresh so you can get that perfect sleep. The view on the valley and the stars at night are breathtaking. The village is quiet but far from being lifeless. It is a great pad to visit other parts of the region and to come back to in the evening. There are rivers and canyons at proximity to the house which are beautiful and refreshing. I could not recommend this place more; my stay there has been excellent, relaxing and therapeutic."

"Je suis une amie de longue date de Martine Fougeron. Chaque année nous passons quelques jours avec elle dans cet endroit merveilleux. Même quand la chaleur est torride dans la vallée, sur la terrasse de la maison il y a toujours si agréable pour lézarder en lisant un bouquin, bavarder avec les amis de passage, organiser les ballades pour le lendemain, bref le lieu idéal quand on veut se ressourcer pleinement. Je ne peux que vous recommander vivement cet endroit."

Il y a sans doute peu de lieux en France aussi caractéristique que ce village d'Esparon construit sur son piton, à l'abri de tous les regards. On ne le voit de nulle part, il cache secrètement derrière son immense rocher une petite église, rare en pays Cévenole de tradition protestant....Et dans ce contexte, la maison de Martine est juste sublime, de chaque fenêtre il y a des vues improbables, de chaque terrasse des panoramas incroyablement beaux vers des horizons toujours plus lointains...des couchers de soleil magnifiques...c'est un bonheur de passer ces soirées au frais, de dormir dans le grand calme, de petit déjeuner de terrasses en terrasses, de descendre se baigner à la rivière, de faire 3 courses au village en dessous, de lire, se détendre, se reposer, partager ensemble de bons moments. la maison est grande et géniale pour partager à plusieurs ces instants de Bonheur...n'hésitez pas, vous ne serai pas déçus...."

"I held a painting retreat at Bastide d'Esparon with 7 artists attending - 11 of us all in all. The property and surrounding landscape is perfect for landscape painting and the house lends itself to big meals - we had breakfast and dinner in the dining area inside and lunch outside in the internal courtyard under the blue sky. Everybody loved the house and the views from the terrace - a wonderful painting spot and also where we had our evening drinks before dinner. The kitchen is big enough to cater for a large group in. And it was a joy to fill the house and run the painting week there. Martine has been answering ALL my questions via email and (website hidden) since I first found the house on air B and B - over 6 months ago - she had been wonderfully helpful and I hope I can hold another event at Bastide d'Esparon - also I hope to visit her in New York and feel I have made a friend - I have had a great sense of community - during out stay I was sending Martine photos via email and it was very nice to be I. Contact in this way - she also gave me local tips and advice on where to go and what is nice to visit locally. Thank you Martine!"An amazing house - extraordinary! The views are the most beautiful I have ever seen and Martine has been very friendly and helpful throughout my booking and planning process. I will Definately be back! April 2014"

"Our Party of 12 adults spent a wonderful 10 days at la Bastide d'Esparon. Everyone was delighted with the house, the restoration, furnishings and lovingly placed artefacts.
The property is clean and well maintained and the caretaker very helpful. The whole place has a very special ambiance and every day started and ended with very convivial breakfasts and dinners on the terraces or around the table in the living room. The house is in a superb location with stunning views and although it is quite a steep road to reach it, the road was always empty and it was never a problem.
There is a supermarket within 10 mins drive and shopping was easy. We walked every day, both from the house and on the GR's within a 25 km radius. There are some classic walks, spectacular views and lovely villages.
It was a very happy stay in a very special place."
